So, on our farm, we have dewberries. Tons and tons of it. Our boys like to compete to see who can pick the most each day we go out. Our first two ziplock bags, I decided to do something simple with them. I made a cobbler. If you don’t have wild dewberries growing near you, you can, of course, supplement with store bought blackberries.
Ingredients are as follows…
4 cups of berries
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of all purpose flour
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 stick of butter
Place your berries in an 8 inch square pan. In a medium size bowl, combine the flour and sugar, mix together a bit. Add your egg next. Mix this around and around until the mixture is course, like corn meal. Put this on top of your blackberries in your pan. Melt your stick of butter and drizzle it all over the top of your mixture. Place this in your preheated to 375 oven and back for 35 minutes or until the top is lightly browned and bubbling. Was definitely delicious! And of course, enjoy it with a bit of vanilla ice cream and your all set!
This is how I made this recipe, but the next time I try it, I may try to layer the ingredients a bit. 2 cups berries down first, add a bit of the dry mix, then the rest of the berries, then the rest of the mix and proceed like before. Either way, it will probably be great!
